About the event

Come join us at The Mess Room and enjoy great films in good company as we launch our informal, social, film screenings at The Mess Room. We'll be getting out our projector, bringing in some extra chairs and playing some fabulous movies, specifically chosen by film buff, Julia.

We open around an hour before the film starts, have a short interval, and the bar will be open throughout. We'll even be bringing out popcorn!  Limited seats available.

Free entry, (although we obviously expect anyone coming to watch the film, to buy at least a couple of drinks!)  If you would like to guarantee a seat, you can book in advance and there is a deposit of £10 per person, which is redeemable for drinks on the night. This is a social film event for film lovers, and whilst we ask that you refrain from general chit-chat whilst the film is playing, film interaction however, is more than encouraged!

Bar Open: 6.45pm  Film Start Time: 7.45pm  Bar Closes: 11pm

The Big Lebowski is not just a movie, this 1998 Coen Brothers film about a  slacker entangled in a case of mistaken identity is an undeniable pop culture force. A mix of crime noir and bizarre comedy, “The Big Lebowski” tells the story of Jeffrey Lebowski aka The Dude, His Dudeness and El Duderin, and his unexpected journey from unemployment loafer to kidnapping go-between, rug thief and bowling kingpin. The cast is headed by Jeff Bridges (The Dude) and John Goodman and also features Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore. The movies has gained cult staus - spawning merchandise, cocktails, countless memes, fansites, themed venues, an annual festival and, yes, even a religion known as Dudeism!

White Russians not essential, but recommended!
